From Their Keyboards to Your Ears!

Did everyone watch the "indie" Oscars Sunday night? We must admit we were pleased with the ceremonies, especially Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova winning Best Song for "Falling Slowly" from the rather lovely film, Once. Score one for the good guys! Actually, almost all the winners were good guys this year. Meanwhile, we were busy playing this game where every time they cut to Jack Nicholson we had to take a drink, which meant that... um, so who got Best Picture, anyway?

We've got an award-worthy show for you this week, full of fresh new tunes and unfiltered music-blogger insight. We also welcome our special guest host, Gurj Bassi, who we adore for her own cheeky blog (and English accent), and who is filling in for regular host, Abbey, while she's off trawling the record stores of Europe for rare 80s vinyl. We assume. Anyway, please make Gurj feel welcome, as she'll be here next week too!

Speaking of travel, coming up in less than two weeks is the annual SxSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas. Or, as it is also known, Indie Rock Spring Break. Blog Fresh will be there in full effect, and we're helping out with two blogger-curated events: the Above the Radar party on Thursday, March 13 and After the Jump, a charity that's throwing a few parties during the fest. Representatives of both parties (Sonic Itch Music and The Music Slut) are on the show this week talking about bands who will be playing at their respective shows. So if you're going to SxSW, do stop by and say hi.

Elsewhere on this week's show, we talk to two Jameses: the first, from L.A. blog Green Pea Ness; the second, of Mancunian blog Yer Mam! And perhaps most exciting, we've got former Blog Fresh guest host Cindy Hotpoint telling us all about the revival of her blog, The Rich Girls are Weeping. It's about time!

Plus, we find out what all your favorite music blogs are posting this week on the offical Blog Fresh Chart. And finally, a selection from Gurj herself. All that, and no long, boring speeches or pointless montages. Blog Fresh -- we cut straight to the good stuff!
