Blog Fresh Towers is empty Monday -- it's a holiday here in the US (President's Day) -- and we're celebrating the birth of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington by, uh, watching the '80s guilty pleasure The Pirate Movie on cable. (Kristy McNichol, where are you now?) And one of us is writing this while doing so. We love our country!

But Blog Fresh never rests for long, so we're still out there finding out what music blogs are listening to this week. Heck, the latest show almost merits a holiday of its own! We finally welcome one of our favorite London blogs (Music Like Dirt) to the show this week; we've got a gig report from our newest New York correspondent, Mr. Mammoth; Pennsylvania blog Lost in Your Inbox reminds us, post-Valentines Day, that there there are still some good love songs being made; The Music Slut tells us about a cool new folk artist; and Cubik Musik gets us excited for the SxSW Music Conference* in his hometown of Austin, TX, with a taste of some retro-sounding, local electronic bizness.

Plus, we'll take a look at the ten most blogged-about bands of the week on the Blog Fresh Chart, and check out the latest single from our favorite new UK indie outfit, Pete & the Pirates. Speaking of pirate songs, the movie is getting good now -- Christopher Atkins has just broken into "How Can I Live Without Her?" Yeah. Well, we promise he won't be making an appearance on our show, so you can listen without fear.
